Welcome to First Parish

WE ASPIRE TO BE a beacon of liberal faith, strong community, and transformative service, rooted in love.

All online giving:
April's special collection, in honor of Earth Day:
The Friends of Holly Hill Farm strives to provide healthy, organically grown food for the local community, and to foster good stewardship of the land by educating all ages about the practices of conservation and sustainable farming in a welcoming environment.
March's special collection:
First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Scituate MA is a vibrant, inclusive community of faith. We are a non-credal church stressing love, service, and religious freedom. ("Liberal" means 'free' in its theologic sense, in that your religion is about how you live, not what you believe.) Grounded in our Unitarian Universalist principles and purposes, we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and we support each individual's unique search for truth and meaning.

Where are you on your spiritual journey? Wherever you are, we're curious to meet you. Join us in exploring “the big questions” and cultivating ways to live the answers amidst today’s modern challenges. Our congregation seeks ways to build community, guide our children, deepen spiritually, and to make a positive difference in the world.
Services are held on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.  Everyone is welcome. Join us for reflection, music, and fellowship — and our thriving youth program. Kids gather for RE activities shortly after beginning the service with the adults.
Our interim minister: We welcome the Rev. Erin Splaine (she/her) as our Interim minister through 2025. She is an acclaimed UU minister with deep experience (long-settled ministries in Newton, Wayland, and other Massachusetts towns, and an Interim ministry in Hingham). She began her Interim work with us on August 1, 2023, following the tenure of the Rev Pamela Barz, who was with First Parish for ten years.
Youth program
Registration is open for the 2023-24 childrens' and youth Religious Education (RE) programs.
We are hiring! Click here for the RE Teacher job posting and click here for the RE Coach posting.
Each of us has worth and dignity. As Unitarian Universalists, we welcome persons of all sexual orientation, gender and its expression, religious background, marital status, family structure, age, mental and physical health and ability, racial and cultural identity or background, and educational and socioeconomic status. We value diversity and see it as a spiritual gift. All may share in the fellowship and leadership, blessings and joys of our congregation's life.
All of who you are is sacred.
All of who you are is welcome.

Schedule of services

Our theme for the month of April is graceSome questions that may resonate with you: How do we UUs understand grace? How do you know when grace is present in your life or when it is absent?
How do you practice noticing beauty and love in your life? In what ways do you experience beauty and love in life that are unearned, or graced? How does noticing gifts of life call you to live with more compassion or love?
“Community is another source of grace,” writes Matthew Fox. "In community we are meant to grace one another; to be sources of grace; healers by way of grace."
