Welcome to First Parish

 The Friends of Holly Hill Farm strives to provide healthy, organically grown food for the local community, and to foster good stewardship of the land by educating all ages about the practices of conservation and sustainable farming in a welcoming environment.

First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Scituate MA is a vibrant, inclusive community of faith. We are a non-credal church stressing love, service, and religious freedom. ("Liberal" means 'free' in its theologic sense, in that your religion is about how you live, not what you believe.) Grounded in our Unitarian Universalist principles and purposes, we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and we support each individual's unique search for truth and meaning.

Where are you on your spiritual journey? Wherever you are, we're curious to meet you. Join us in exploring “the big questions” and cultivating ways to live the answers amidst today’s modern challenges. Our congregation seeks ways to build community, guide our children, deepen spiritually, and to make a positive difference in the world.

Services are held on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.  Everyone is welcome. Join us for reflection, music, and fellowship — and our thriving youth program. Kids gather for RE activities shortly after beginning the service with the adults.  

Each of us has worth and dignity. As Unitarian Universalists, we welcome persons of all sexual orientation, gender and its expression, religious background, marital status, family structure, age, mental and physical health and ability, racial and cultural identity or background, and educational and socioeconomic status. We value diversity and see it as a spiritual gift. All may share in the fellowship and leadership, blessings and joys of our congregation's life.

Our theme for the month of April is grace. Some questions that may resonate with you: How do we UUs understand grace? How do you know when grace is present in your life or when it is absent?
How do you practice noticing beauty and love in your life? In what ways do you experience beauty and love in life that are unearned, or graced? How does noticing gifts of life call you to live with more compassion or love?
“Community is another source of grace,” writes Matthew Fox. "In community we are meant to grace one another; to be sources of grace; healers by way of grace."

Rev. Erin Splain preaching. The Social Justice and Denominational Affairs Committee will kick off our first year of "Welcome Renewal." (First Parish obtained Welcoming Congregation status from the UUA in 2006 to demonstrate its commitment to be more intentionally welcoming to individuals, families, and communities of all sexual orientations and gender identities.) The renewal activities this year reinforce our efforts in being welcoming and learning about and supporting the current needs and concerns of LGBTQ+/TGNB people.
